Trend 1. Interactive content
Email design has been held back for so long, most commonly because of restrictions around coding interactive content into email marketing design templates. But, this year, email marketers are able be more creative than ever.
Expect hamburger menus and hover-based interactivity, such as buttons changing upon hovering – genuinely, this has been quite difficult to achieve until now in email. Also, we'll see things like interactive surveys directly within an email. This will enable email marketers to support service-based departments with their tools and technologies. And better still, it will allow them to do some really cool and creative things with email marketing campaigns! Email marketing is about to get much more interactive!
Trend 2. Personalisation
In CRMs, marketers hold so much data for our prospects, customers and subscribers, but we rarely use it. And most email marketers tend to use the data that is the least lucrative or relevant.
In 2018, I feel that email marketers will begin to personalise emails in a much more creative way. This is the year where marketers truly try to build relationships with subscribers. And there's no better way to do this, than through personalising every email marketing experience, so they are useful, timely and relevant.

Trend 3. Things are going look a lot cleaner and simpler
Throughout 2017, we saw a lot of email marketing creative simplifying and becoming much easier to consume. This is great for marketers and consumers, because it makes information easier to absorb and increases the likelihood of a subscriber clicking and going on to making a purchase.
